Mikoto Misaka, still recovering from her battle against Shokuhou Misaki’s Doppelgänger scheme, starts noticing strange fluctuations in the city's power grid. Meanwhile, Kuroko Shirai and Kazari Uiharu investigate a series of disappearances linked to an underground experiment known as Project Paradox, which allegedly manipulates esper abilities beyond their natural limits. At the same time, Ruiko Saten stumbles upon classified information about a rumored "Level 6 Shift" experiment, causing Mikoto to fear that another twisted scientific project is underway. As tensions rise, a powerful new esper known as Erebus Ohtori, an enigmatic Level 5 who can manipulate the concept of weight itself, emerges from the shadows. Erebus, possessing a deep grudge against Academy City's scientists, orchestrates a rebellion among lower-level espers who have been experimented on and discarded.
